Why Stabbur

Descending from Scandinavian bloodlines i was exposed to many cultural curiosities including rosemaling, trolls, and the stabbur. 

The Stabbur sparked my interest... some may say obsession.

Design Questions

There seem to be many variations on the basic two story design.
Do these variations stem from differing functional needs, personal style preferences, availability of different materials, local environmental concerns?:

• size of side overhang

• overhang on front or only sides

• are there detail plans for these available...
